BASTA Inc. Demands Suspension of Eviction Proceedings Due to Covid
With over 635 thousand cases and about 9 thousand cases of COVID-19 in Los Angeles alone, the courts are still pushing evictions in courthouses across LA. Despite the lack of necessity, landlords are trying to evict residents while COVID cases are rising. Residents who have lost their main source of income are under pressure with the threat of eviction will have a harder time coping with the Coronavirus and sickness may become more prevalent in these residents.
The MRA1441 demands that ALL eviction cases are halted until the pandemic ends.
Basta should have heroes fighting for the people of the County of Los Angeles.
The President of the MRA1441, who is currently facing retaliatory eviction, has tweeted this article to the Board of Supervisors and witnessed that the West Covina Court fraudulently assisted the landlords by trying to change the date of filing trial by jury.
